Post Shapella and Ether

Within the first four days of the Shapella hard fork, post Shapella withdrawal pass 1m ether.

Almost 1 million Ether worth $2.1 billion have now been removed from Ethereum’s Beacon Chain, and Ether has now surpassed $2,100 for the first time in 11 months.

According to the data from beaconchain, the 473,7000 withdrawal requests led to the 1.03 million ETH withdrawals, with the greatest withdrawal day (392,800 ETH) occurring on Saturday, April 15.

Nearly 87%, or 469,000 of the 540,000 active validators, can now withdraw their staked Ether.

While the Ethereum community was divided on the potential effects of Shapella on the price of Ether, the first four days have seen an increase of around 10%.

Post Shapella upgrade and Ether

Given the macroeconomic environment at the time, Feeney said that many early investors sought to exit after what for some of them had been a roughly 30-month wait.

The Shapella hard fork, in Feeney’s opinion, will only enhance Ethereum at the consensus level over the medium to long term by increasing the quantity of Ether staked:

“Because Shapella is a massive de-risking event, over the medium to long-term more, not less, ETH will be staked. We anticipate that in the not too distant future, we will reach a record high of Ether being staked.”

The 1 million milestone is a 500% gain above a projection made on April 11 by the blockchain analytics company Glassnode, which suggested that only 170,000 Ether would be left unstaked after Shapella’s first week.

Nansen, an on-chain analytics company, slightly overestimated the amount of 1.4 million Ether that would be withheld after Shapella’s first few days.
